Beginner Metalsmithing Workshop

Service Description

Tuesday, April 30th, 6:30-9pm Craft your own sterling silver ring set… comprised of one opal gemstone ring, plus two additional stacker rings of your choice. In this workshop, you will learn beginner metalsmithing techniques using a butane torch and a pre-made stone/bezel setting. You’ll learn metal-forming, soldering, hammering, ring sizing & mandrel use, as well as how to set a cabochon. You’ll walk away from this workshop with a set of 3 sterling silver rings, and basic metalsmithing skills! No experience necessary, this is a beginner-level workshop. All materials will be provided for you. Students must be at least 18+ years old. Visiting artist Steph is the owner and jeweler behind Mermaid Metal. In September of 2014, she enrolled in an 8-week long metalsmithing course, and immediately knew that this is what she was meant to do. She learned the art of soldering, forming bezels, stone setting, and fabrication - creating jewelry at the bench using hand tools to manipulate and form the metal. In 2017, she left her 9-5 job to go full-time with her own business and haven’t looked back. Mermaid Metal started off with jewelry and it has become so much more. It is her way of connecting to people and spreading good energy. It is about pursuing your passions and inspiring people to live a life that fulfills the soul. *Payments made online are through PayPal. You DO NOT need a PayPal account. You may use any credit card through PayPal. If you choose not to pay online, payments must be made in person by April 28th.

Cancellation Policy

A group event. Two craft tables and stool seating. Handicap accessible. Please contact us with special request or needs. You don't need a PayPal account to pay through PayPal. They take credit cards. We will contact you before event to collect payment if you don't pay at time of booking. You may pay cash in person if you like. Please contact us if you need to cancel. If you are cancelling within 24 hours of the workshop, your payment will go toward another workshop or class. We will not be able to refund you. Materials have already been purchased at that time.
